KASHMAR carpet (Iran), late 20th century.
Dimensions: 350 x 250 cm.
Technical specifications: Wool pile on a cotton backing.
A navy blue field covered with multicoloured foliage and floral garlands, framed by four radiating bluish spandrels, features a magnificent star-shaped floral rosette in sky blue, ivory and chestnut, along with small symbolic vases.
The frame consists of seven borders (the seven steps leading to paradise).
The central marine border features undulating pastel plant garlands, whilst the other six—in ivory and royal blue—feature garlands of small flowers. Navy blue braid. Beautifully uniform.
