DESCRIPTION
Trained at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and under Henri Ottevaere, Henri-Victor Wolvens developed a body of work characterised by his exploration of light. His art gradually became more luminous under the influence of major figures such as Van Gogh, William Turner and James Ensor, with whom he would later become friends. His discovery of the light of Bruges marked a decisive turning point in his artistic career. The quality of his work has been recognised through several retrospective exhibitions, notably at the Musée d’Ixelles in 2015 and during the ‘Summertime’ exhibition held in 2019 at the
Group 2 Gallery.
