DESCRIPTION
Bill Parker was an American painter associated with the American School and the School of Paris. He trained under Hans Hofmann in New York. He settled permanently in Paris in 1951 and attended the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, where he became close to Fernand Léger. Influenced by Cubism and post-war abstraction, he developed a pictorial language based on coloured forms and geometric constructions. His paintings are now held in several prestigious collections, including the Musée d’Art moderne in Paris, the Whitney Museum in New York and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
