Description
Lina VON WEILER (1830–1890) Portrait of a Little Girl Oil on canvas Signed and dated top right 43.5 x 30 cm (chips) DESCRIPTION A Franco-German portraitist and genre painter, she settled in Paris around 1853, where she trained in Léon Cogniet’s studio. By 1857, she was already working as a portrait painter, and exhibited at several salons between 1857 and 1880. Particularly talented and a keen observer of the emotions conveyed by her models, her work is, unfortunately, part of the long and non-exhaustive list of female talents forgotten by art history. THIS LOT WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE DROUOT STORAGE FACILITY AFTER THE SALE; IT WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN FOR RE-EXAMINATION. Please refer to the auction house’s terms and conditions regarding the collection of lots before bidding.
