Could she be the daughter, niece or granddaughter of Joseph Villevieille, the famous painter from Aix-en-Provence who was active in the second half of the 19th century? This is a plausible possibility. This artist, a close friend of Paul Cézanne, frequented François-Marius Granet’s studio in his youth, then studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under great masters such as Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres, Horace Vernet and James Pradier. Recognised during her lifetime and a professor emeritus at the school in Aix-en-Provence, she produced still lifes, landscapes and portraits.
