Description
Jean KRILLÉ (1923–1991) Landscape Oil on panel Signed ‘Krillé’ lower left 99 x 120 cm Framed DESCRIPTION At the age of 16, he enrolled at the Zurich School of Fine Arts, then at the Vevey School of Arts and Crafts. In 1945, he moved to Paris for five years, where he furthered his studies at the École nationale des Beaux-Arts whilst frequenting the Saint-Germain district frequented by the existentialists – Prévert, Sartre and Le Corbusier. His early works included book illustrations, lithographs, posters, drawings and press features. A keen traveller, he was particularly drawn to Africa, where he put his many talents as an architect, painter and reporter to use. In 1964, he set off for the United States, where he spent several years, which explains why his works are held in numerous American museums. He devoted himself mainly to landscapes, inspired by real-life views. Bordering on abstraction, he works with vibrant colours, which are also evident in his still lifes. THIS LOT WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE DROUOT STORE AFTER THE AUCTION; IT WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR REVIEW.
