André Vincent BECQUEREL (1893–1981) Eagle Bronze with a golden-brown patina Signed ‘AV Becquerel’ in the lower right-hand corner 53 x 91 cm Expert: Cabinet Lacroix-Jeannest DESCRIPTION André Vincent Becquerel was a French sculptor. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Hector Lemaire and Prosper Lecourtier. He exhibited animal sculptures, including big cats, horses, cats and birds, at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français from 1914 to 1922. Becquerel produced numerous decorative sculptures, with a preference for wild animals. For the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris, he exhibited a monumental sculpture in patinated plaster for the International Pavilion.
