Description
JAPAN, Edo period, late 17th century. Important samurai armour of the yokohagi-dō tōsei gusoku type.The suji-bachi type kabuto with sixty-nine black brown lacquered leather slats, topped with an openwork metal tehen; the fukigaeshi missing. The dō in dark brown lacquered horizontal plates, complete with its kusazuri and accompanied by large matching sode. Important dark blue silk lacing. The armour also retaining its kote, haidate and suneate; some parts of the old lacing have been taken up later. The silk inner linings show some old variations. The suneate are patched and slightly later. With later presentation base.
