In a gilded stucco frame, with a cartouche bearing the inscription: "Tristan Lacroix- Forêt de Fontainebleau (étude)- N°1384".
Originally from the South West of France, Tristan Lacroix moved to Paris and became a famous wildlife painter, exhibiting at the Paris Salon and winning a medal at the 1889 Salon.
This is probably the Rallye Sivry that hunted in the Forêt de Fontainebleau from 1867 to 1880, captained by Viscount Onésime Aguado.
