Butter knife made of carved elm, with a studded handle. Decorated with swirling pear branches encircled by wolf’s teeth, with a central motif depicting the areola and nipple of a breast to symbolise fertility. CORNWALL, 19th century. Diameter 13.3 cm. Height 6.3 cm. Bears the inventory number from the collection of Yves Hémar (1886–1955), former curator of the Musée de Saint-Malo.
