Description
A BEAUTIFUL LOA-GOUEL, or ‘festive spoon’, carved from boxwood. The handle is decorated with wolf’s teeth inlaid with red and black wax around the rim, featuring five glass lenses containing coloured ribbons and paper, surmounted by a cross. The reverse of the handle is inlaid with red wax bearing the inscription ‘MI 1842’ (beautiful patina). CORNWALL, dated 1842. Length: 17.4 cm.
