COLETTE & MATHURIN MÉHEUT – ‘Look… ’ – Paris; J-G. Deschamps, 1929 – 1 folio-sized paperback volume, unnumbered, in a slipcase with a bordered back and a padded cover, printed and decorated with one large design on the front cover and a smaller one on the back, both stencil-coloured (one small corner stain on the front cover, plus a few tiny marginal stains on both covers; spine darkened) – 20 magnificent colour illustrations, both in the text and as inserts, by Mathurin Méheut, stencil-coloured by Jean Saudé - First edition, numbered on Vidalon vellum (no. 482 of 700, total print run: 730) of this splendid volume devoted to marine flora and fauna, a true tribute to the Emerald Coast - A very fine copy with vivid colours, one of the finest works illustrated by Méheut. Intended primarily for children, this book was the result of two years’ collaboration between the writer and the artist. It was published by Jean-Guy Deschamps, who had the idea of asking Colette to write a text to accompany Méheut’s drawings. Under the title *Regarde* there are in fact two separate texts: *Regarde* and *La Flaque*. The artist was in charge of the book, deciding on the paper and, above all, the layout, and closely supervised the colouring of his drawings by Jean Saudé. This was the first and only collaboration between Colette and Méheut.
