QUÉRÉ (René) (1932–2021): ‘Sailors. A Brief History of the Dahut and the Iroise ’ – AN EXCEPTIONAL, ENTIRELY HANDWRITTEN COPY, richly illustrated with numerous ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR AND GOAUSCHE DRAWINGS depicting the lives of the fishermen of Douarnenez, in one large oblong In-4° volume (27x37 cm) with a cover illustrated with large gouaches: the front cover titled in white with a blue band adorned with white anchors, featuring a gouache pasted to the back, the back cover adorned with a white anchor on a blue background – 42 pages: the left-hand pages feature cut-outs revealing the captioned drawings, whilst the right-hand pages contain handwritten text in black ink, framed by a blue watercolour border; all illustrated with a total of 59 works: 4 gouaches (including the 2 covers), 22 watercolours, 9 pencil and/or charcoal drawings, 16 pastels, 5 ink drawings and 3 felt-tip pen drawings - Signed R. Quéré, dated January 1970 and located in Tréboul on the front and back endpapers - Metal spiral binding - A very fine, poetic and unique copy of this record of the artist’s memories of his godfather’s longliner, *Le Dahut*, and of the lives of fishermen on the Iroise Sea.
