MICHEAU-VERNEZ Robert (1907–1989): A SIGNIFICANT AND RARE polychrome earthenware panel comprising 48 tiles, decorated with the famous ‘gavotte’ design commissioned by the SNCF from the artist in January 1952. It was produced in collaboration with the ceramist Le Phuez. Signed with the artist’s name in the bottom left-hand corner. Pages 138 and 139 of Mr Théallet’s book on this artist (a few tiny chips along the edge, which have been restored). QUIMPER, HENRIOT Manufactory, c. 1950. Dimensions: 91.5 x 122 cm.
