A mantel clock depicting a sower, with a circular white-enamelled dial featuring hour markers in black-painted Roman numerals, a black-painted minute track, two winding squares at four and eight o’clock, two metal hands of the so-called Bréguet style, a wire suspension converted to a blade suspension, a mainplate stamped ‘Vincenti et CIE 1855 silver medal’, a mechanical movement with key winding, a gilded bronze case, a bronze sculpture of a sower with a golden-brown patina and gilded bronze plant motifs, the whole resting on an alabaster plinth decorated with a frieze of painted lozenges, resting on four spinning-top legs, two of which are in gilded bronze and two in alabaster, Louis XV style, second half of the 19th century, H. 31.5 cm, (cracks in the alabaster, winding key missing, minor imperfections and very slight tarnish on the bronze and gilded bronze, two feet replaced, broken minute hand and a small scratch on the dial)
