A substantial in-4 volume, in brown half-maroquin with corner pieces, smooth spine with title and gilt fillets, gilt head. Covers and spine intact.
215 illustrations, most of them previously unpublished, namely: a colour woodcut on the cover, specially engraved by Louis Bouquet; a title vignette (a Lyon woodcut by Jean Syber); a monotype print by Pierre Combet-Descombes, vignettes within the text and on the inside front cover, and finally the documentary series of 95 phototypic plates as inserts, prepared by Maurice Lescuyer. Limited edition of 620 numbered copies; this is one of the 600 deluxe copies on tinted Arches vellum (256).
