8vo, marbled brown calfskin, ribbed spine, panels decorated with small gilt ironwork, red leather title label, blind-stamped fillet framing the covers, gilt fillet on the edges, guilloché capitals, yellow edges.

In this political essay, Edmund Burke (1729–1797), a Liberal Member of Parliament and one of the leading figures of the Whig Party, offers a critique of the French Revolution. His analysis, which proved accurate in the light of subsequent events, has ensured him a certain measure of posterity.
