TOLSTOI, Léon. *Le Premier Bouilleur*. Paris, Éditions de la Revue d’Art Dramatique, 1899. In-8 booklet, paperback. 40 pp., headbands. First French edition of this comedy, first performed in 1886. It is a theatrical adaptation of the Russian folk tale ‘How the Devil Bought Back His Loaf of Bread’. The translation is by Adrien Souberbielle (1875–1955), a lawyer and associate of Clémenceau, and one of the first translators of Tolstoy. In fine condition.
