Large 8vo, paperback, two-colour printed hardback cover with publisher’s vignette, in a red marbled paper slipcase. 283 pp., 29 plates of black-and-white illustrations as inserts, including 3 double-page spreads, 3 facsimiles of autographs, headpieces and decorative elements. Spine slightly creased with minor paper losses at the foot. First edition. Complete with the facsimile of Goethe’s ‘Elegy of Marienbad’, presented separately (accordion-fold leaflet in a titled sleeve). One of 45 copies numbered on Imperial Japanese paper (a limited edition following 9 copies on antique Japanese paper), this being no. 12, signed by the author. It contains a separate set of plates and a set of text illustrations and ornamentation on Chinese paper, bound at the end. In very good condition.
