A rare set comprising the first two years of this pioneering magazine dedicated to motor transport. Paris, Dunod et Pinat, 1907–1908. 2 large quarto volumes, each bound in ebony half-maroquin, spines with fine raised bands, pale green covers preserved. 763 and 8 pp (table of contents); 1,408 pp. Numerous black-and-white illustrations Slight scuffing to the front cover of the first volume; one loose leaf in the first volume (table of contents). First edition covering the first two years of this important technical journal. The inaugural year, 1906, saw only a single issue (25 November). Edited by Pierre Souvestre (1874–1914) – future co-creator of Fantômas! – the journal is devoted to industrial vehicles and public transport (lorries, omnibuses, buses, commercial vehicles, urban and military transport). It also covers technical aspects (advances in engines, carburetion, transmission, etc.). Each issue also featured vehicle test reports, accounts of competitions and exhibitions, studies on regulations, road infrastructure, operating costs, and innovations from the leading manufacturers (Renault, Delahaye, Gladiator, Westinghouse, etc.). An excellent collection, well preserved in good later bindings.
