In-8, midnight blue half-maroquin with corner caps, ribbed spine, gilt head, untrimmed, covers and spine preserved. Binding by Marius Magnin. VII and 161 pp., numerous colour illustrations. First edition illustrated by Gus Bofa of this tale in which, in 1920, Raymond Hesse brings to life Riquet à la Houppe, Puss in Boots, Sleeping Beauty, Bluebeard and other colourful characters. Preface by Anatole France. Limited edition of 820 copies; this is one of 35 numbered copies on Imperial Japan paper (no. 14) containing a black-and-white sequence of illustrations. An excellent copy, with full margins, in a fine signed binding.
