VERTÈS, Marcel. It’s All Mental. New Yorkers viewed through the lens of psychoanalysis. A charming collection of drawings in its first edition, complete with a dedicatory note. New York, Tudor Publishing Company, 1948. Small folio, publisher’s grey cloth-bound hardback, colour illustration mounted on the front cover. Unpaginated, 38 full-page black-and-white illustrations with captions opposite and one illustration within the text. In English. Cover partially sun-faded with water damage at the top of the spine and a small tear at the bottom. Margins very slightly browned. First edition of this album of drawings reproduced in black and white. Preface by the American actress and writer Anita Loos (1888–1981). Limited edition of 3,500 copies; this one includes an autographed letter, signed and dated 1952, addressed to another Hungarian-born individual, André Kostolany, an American financial expert. . Marcel Vertès (1895–1961), who was in exile in New York during the Second World War, humorously explores the theme of psychoanalysis, illustrating it with scenes captured in the streets of the Big Apple. In good condition.
