[COMMERCE] SEIGNEURIE, Albert. General Directory of the French Grocery Trade and Related Industries. An excellent publication, beautifully printed on paper of various colours and illustrated with commercial advertisements. Paris, Bourse du Commerce, 1904. In-8, publisher’s cardboard binding in red half-percaline with yellow covers, printed edges (advertisements) 868 pp., quires in various colours, numerous advertising inserts with black-and-white illustrations. Spine slightly faded, some scuffing to the binding, corners worn. A directory listing the names of traders by department and then by town. It also includes all entries for Algeria and Tunisia, which were then under French protectorate. Chapters are devoted more specifically to commercial management: the sale of businesses, legislation, trade unions, etc. Albert Seigneurie (1852–1922), a businessman, devoted much of his career to organising and defending the interests of the trade, founding the trade journal *L’Épicier* and subsequently this *Annuaire général de l’épicerie française*. A fine copy.
