Binding by Engel. 395 pp., numerous illustrations. Percaline cloth rubbed at the caps, corners and joints. Water stain on the lower margin; foxing mainly on the first and last leaves. Cardboard cover known as ‘armillary sphere’ or ‘solar world’, adorned with a superb plate signed by Auguste Souze. Illustrations by Paul Dominique Philippoteaux, who brilliantly brings this cosmic adventure novel to life in pictures. An extremely rare copy; the plate is in beautifully fresh condition.
