Large quarto, publisher’s binding in beige percaline, plain spine decorated with a colour design running the length of the spine, front cover decorated with a colour title design by Louis Morin, gilt edges. 398 pp., facsimile preface, numerous black-and-white illustrations both within the text and as inserts. Stains on the binding, spine darkened, paper discoloured at the margins. A richly illustrated edition. Facsimile preface by Charles Léandre (1862–1934), famous for his caricatures and drawings published notably in *Le Rire* and *Le Figaro*, and frontispiece by Louis Morin (1855–1938), founder of the Society of Cartoonists. On the title page, a stamp from the ‘Bethlem Hospital Library’.
