[JULY MONARCHY]. Figurative painting of the Chamber of Deputies by J. F. Jeanmaire, Officer of the Legion of Honour, successor to Saint Eloy. Usher of the said Chamber. 1834 session. Revised edition. Paris, published by the author, Delaunay, Dentu, Levasseur, Ledoyen and Hautecœur Martinet, n.d. [1834]. Engraved copperplate (44 x 55 cm) hand-coloured on rag paper (46 x 61 cm) mounted (using removable paper tape) on a later sheet of strong white paper (50 x 64 cm). The rag paper is slightly wavy in places, with a few scattered brown spots and foxing, slight fraying at the margins without affecting the image area, and a central vertical crease, as is often the case. This engraving from the early days of the July Monarchy depicts the projected composition of the Chamber of Deputies for the year 1834, showing the list of members in alphabetical order, the list by department, and their seating arrangement in the chamber. A delightful historical document.
