XII and 588 pp., 12 unnumbered folios. (advertisements and publisher’s catalogue). Colour frontispiece, 28 plates, including 2 in colour, 21 in black and white, and 5 photographic reproductions. Normal wear to the binding; paper browned at the margins. First edition. Louis Baudry de Saunier (1865–1938), a journalist and specialist in transport and motor sports, was one of the leading chroniclers of cycling and motoring. In this richly illustrated volume, he sets out the principles of cycling, the evolution of bicycles and riding techniques. Preface by Pierre Giffard. Uncommon, a fine copy.
