BENJAMIN, René. Two signed autograph postcards addressed to Abel Bonnard. Concerning *En Chine*, for which Abel Bonnard was awarded the Grand Prix de Littérature by the Académie française. 2 pages, in-12 format (148 x 114 mm), with addresses and postmarks on the reverse. Paris, 5 March 1924 and Lussault-sur-Loire, 21 June 1924. Two small tears in the second letter, repaired with adhesive tape on the reverse. The writer René Benjamin (1885–1948) congratulates Abel Bonnard on the publication and literary success of *En Chine*, an account of his nine-month stay. 5 March 1924: “Ah! Dear friend, it really does seem that you have in your veins a civilisation as ancient, as refined and as astonishing as the wonders of the Chinese”… 21 June 1924: He congratulates Abel Bonnard, who has just been awarded the Grand Prix de Littérature by the Académie Française for *En Chine*: …“you are brimming with genius: I’m not telling you anything new; but it’s such a pleasure to say it again”…
