LA FONTAINE, Jean de and VERA, Paul. The Loves of Psyche and Cupid. A beautifully illustrated volume in the Art Deco style, a copy on vellum in a full, signed binding. Paris, La Cité des livres, 1925. In-8, full red morocco, spine with four raised bands, inner edge adorned with a framing design comprising gilt fillets and lace, double gilt fillet on the edges, guilloché caps, illustrated cover preserved. Binding signed Pouillet. 222 pp., 5 full-page colour lithographs, 8 woodcuts in the text. A small tear at the top of the spine, minimal signs of wear. An illustrated edition featuring 5 delicate full-page colour lithographs by Paul Véra and 8 black-and-white woodcuts in the text. The compositions, enhanced with watercolour, were reproduced by the master colourist Jean Saudé and printed on plates at the Chachoin printing works. Limited edition of 830 copies; this is one of the 750 numbered copies on Arches vellum (no. 402). A fine copy in a signed binding.
