Description
ROUFF, Marcel. The Life and Passion of Dodin-Bouffant, the Gourmet. Paris, Stock, 1924. In-8, full beige morocco, ribbed spine highlighted with blind-stamped bands extending onto the covers, blind-stamped band framing the covers, inner edge with triple gilt band framing and gilt daisies at the corners, covers and spine preserved, gilt edges. Spine slightly browned, a few minor stains on the binding. The most complete edition of the most famous French gastronomic novel; the first edition of 1920 was abridged due to a paper shortage. It is dedicated to Brillat-Savarin, Gabion, Guy de Pourtalès and, of course, Curnonsky, who co-authored the *La France gastronomique* collection with Marcel Rouff. One of 54 copies printed on Arches laid paper, and amongst these, one of the four uncommercial copies (no. A). A fine copy, in a sturdy full morocco binding.
