BARBEY D'AUREVILLY, Jules. *Amaïdée*. Prose poem. Paris, Alphonse Lemerre, 1890. In-12, brown half-maroquin, spine with four raised bands, gilt head, untrimmed, covers and spine preserved. Binding signed J. van West. VII and 74 pp. Minimal loss of paper on the front cover of the binding; paper browned as is often the case; a small tear and a small loss of paper on the title page (on the stitching side). Posthumous first edition of this early work, characterised by Romanticism and the influence of Lord Byron. Preface by Paul Bourget. A fine copy in a sturdy and elegant later signed binding.
