Description
France: Flintlock Voltigeur rifle converted to percussion, Model 1816 T Bis, from the Royal Manufactory of Mutzig.
Calibre 18 mm.
All metal parts have a light grey patina and show traces of oxidation in places. The barrel is dated ‘MR 1822’, hallmarked (illegible) and numbered ‘18’. The breech block is marked ‘1816 T Bis’. Converted percussion lock marked “Manufacture Royale de Mutzig” and hallmarked “L” beneath a crown. All iron fittings are clearly hallmarked.
Long-stocked walnut buttstock with a good “MI ... Manufacture de Châtellerault", partly legible, with a boxwood butt plate marked “MI” and stamped “CHATELLERAULT”.
Functional mechanism with two distinct cocking notches, free of play. The inside of the barrel has shallow rifling.
141.5 cm (barrel 103 cm).
Damage to the wood.
The cleaning rod is missing.
Comes with a bayonet.
