1 – A rare silver medal for civic merit issued by the French Concession in Shanghai. A round, double-sided silver-plated medallion; on the obverse, the text ‘Concession Française de Changai’ (sic) is set within a peripheral cartouche; in the centre is a coat of arms featuring a rooster and a junk, surmounted by the city’s fortified gate, with text in ideograms. Text on the reverse: ‘MERITE CIVIQUE’, set against a background of laurel leaves. Fixed loop; remnants of a tricolour ribbon. (Condition 1-)
