Description
4 – Rare commemorative medal from the French municipality of Shanghai, August–November 1937 A round, double-sided medallion in silver-plated metal. On the obverse, a vertical sword in its scabbard set against a bed of laurel leaves, crossed by the text; the medallion is marked ‘SERVIR’ in relief across its entire width. The pommel of the sword, which is pierced, bears a loop for a ribbon. Text on the reverse: ‘MEDAILLE DE SHANGAI CONCESSION FRANCAISE’. With its red ribbon featuring two narrow white and blue stripes on either side along the edge of the ribbon. Silver bar inscribed ‘COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL OF THE FRENCH MUNICIPALITY OF CHANGAI AUGUST–NOVEMBER 1937’ (text on three lines). (Condition 1)
