Description
Helmet Model 40 - SA-Standarte Feldherrnhalle Rare heavy helmet worn by the elite units of the SA-Standarte Feldherrnhalle. Created in 1935 and renamed Feldherrnhalle in 1936, it was responsible for protecting important SA, State and Reich Party buildings. In February 1939, part of this elite division was integrated into the 271 infantry regiment. It arrived in Normandy in mid-July and was engaged in the Odon sector and the Laize valley. It was present on hill 112, where fierce fighting took place. Under pressure, it fell back into the Falaise-Chambois pocket, where it was surrounded. The division was destroyed in August 1944 while under the supervision of the 5th Armoured Army. Manufacture: ET Size 64 Sheet no.: 1181 Double insignia: Heer & Feldherrnhalle (emblem of the loggia located in Munich on the Odeonsplatz) With inner cap & leather chinstrap dated 1942. As worn, chinstrap damaged.
