T-5 Parachute Harness - 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment - 101st Airborne Division Parachute harness type T-5, regimented to the 506th PIR of the 101st Division, inscribed "RS" corresponding to the initials of Robert Sink commander of the 506th PIR much appreciated by all members of the regiment. Date of inspection: 10 April 1944. On the night of 5 to 6 June 1944, in order to ensure the various objectives, the Americans defined six drop zones for the two divisions, the 82nd and the 101st. Together, these zones represented around 39 square kilometres. The 101st landed in three zones (A-C-D) to the east of Route National 13 and the 506th's objective was to capture the village of Saint-Côme-du-Mont. This harness was found in the Sainte-Mère-Eglise area. It was cut in two places to make it easier to remove when landing.
