Description
Elegant, large and unusual combat flintlock pistol. Smooth octagonal barrel with a calibre of 30 bullets per pound. Fixed rear sight and front sight. Beautiful two-stage lock. Flat body. Strong swan neck hammer with floral engraving. Bassinet with sides. Battery spring screwed on the inside. Iron mounted weapon. Flat oval calotte with two degrees included in the setting out of wood of the calotte. Floral decoration on the two-degree counterplates. Barrel held by two drawers on a blond walnut frame extending to the muzzle. The stock is varnished with a very simple but elegant stamp, indicating that this gun was made in France. Missing ramrod. Functional mechanism. The curvature of the stock suggests a First Empire shape. The shape of the hammer is more reminiscent of a mid-18th century weapon. A fleur-de-lys mark on the inside of the lock seems to confirm that this weapon was made under the Royalty. Length: 400 mm. Condition 1.
