Description
CODEX MEDICAMENTARIUS sive Pharmacopoeia Gallica jussu regis optimi [etc.]. Paris, Hacquart, 1818. In-quarto ½ red long-grained morocco, smooth spine partitioned and decorated in gold, green morocco title-piece, red speckled edges (Binding of the period). Damage to the upper part of the spine with small leather loss and loss of gold on a fillet, rings of light wetness in the margins of several leaves. FIRST EDITION of this pharmaceutical code for use throughout France. This important pharmacopoeia was commissioned by the King to replace the official pharmacopoeia of Paris, which dated from 1748 and was considered obsolete. This official copy of the original Latin edition bears the stamp of the Paris Faculty of Medicine and the AUTOGRAPHIC SIGNATURE of the Dean of the Faculty.
