MORERI (L.). LE GRAND DICTIONNAIRE HISTORIQUE. Paris, Mariette [Coignard for vol. 3], 1707. Four volumes in-folio marbled fawn calf, spine ribbed and decorated, garnet morocco title and greevel, red speckled edges (Binding of the period). The bindings are in a state of disrepair: the headpieces are missing, the beginning of cracks at the joints but the seams are solid, the leather is missing from the edges, the corners are dull. NEW EDITION, revised and enlarged by Vaultier, of this famous dictionary first published in 1674 in a single folio volume. It was constantly expanded and corrected and is still a reference work today. Allegorical frontispiece engraved by Thomassin after Desmarets, PORTRAIT of the author engraved after de Troy, numerous steel-engraved lettering and bands.
