Description
ITALIAN FURNITURE FROM THE 1930s ‘Allegory of Summer’ A spectacular dining room piece crafted from stained burl walnut. The dynamic front features two curved side doors and two solid central doors, each surmounted by a drawer – the handles and keyholes are in bronze with a double patina. The central motif, a female figure holding a pruning knife in her right hand and an ear of wheat in her left hand, is carved in the round and positioned at the centre. The body of the piece rests on four pillars, with fluted finials, set upon a sculpted base edged with metal along its perimeter. H. 101 cm – W. 200 cm – D. 60 cm Restorations and signs of wear.
