One-ounce silver medal ‘Swiss Liberty-Taler – Lucerne’, 1996. Obverse: A young woman in traditional Lucerne dress, standing facing the viewer and holding a bouquet of flowers, against a backdrop of lakes and mountains. On the right, the coat of arms of the canton of Lucerne surmounted by the inscription ‘LUZERN’. In the exergue: ‘1 UNZE / 1996’. Reverse: Draped Helvetia, holding a branch and leaning on a shield bearing the Swiss cross, surrounded by a circle of stars. In the exergue: ‘SWISS LIBERTY’. Edge: Fluted. Gross weight: 31.10 g. Metal and fineness: 999 silver. Diameter: 32 mm. Finish: Burnished blank. Condition: FDC. Historical note: This issue forms part of the annual ‘Swiss Liberty-Taler’ series: the obverse varies depending on the canton depicted, whilst the reverse, featuring Helvetia, remains common to the series.
