PRIVATE ISSUE – UNITED STATES – ‘Chicago Board of Trade 150th Anniversary’ commemorative medal, 1848–1998. Obverse: Design commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Chicago Board of Trade; in the centre, a depiction of Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture and emblem of the Board of Trade, set against a stylised design evoking market activities. Caption: ‘CHICAGO BOARD OF TRADE’, dates: ‘1848 – 1998’ and inscription: ‘150 YEARS OF SERVICE AND INTEGRITY’. The monumental statue of Ceres by John H. Storrs crowns the Chicago Board of Trade Building. Reverse: American eagle with outstretched wings, accompanied by a laurel branch. Inscription ‘ONE OUNCE.999 FINE SILVER’. Gross weight: 31.10 g – 1 troy ounce. Metal and fineness: 999 silver. Diameter: approx. 38 mm. Finish: Proof. Condition: SUP; encapsulated, slight peripheral patina.
