Dominic Serres (1722/1793), after. Seascape ‘Ship in a Gale’ – ‘Ships Caught in a Storm’ Oil on canvas in its gilded frame. Dated 1847. Minor historical restorations. On the reverse, an old stamp from a London gallery. Dimensions 55 x 36 cm. This painting, depicting Dutch warships in a storm, may be the work of the Dutch painter Ludolf Bakhuizen, to whom it was originally attributed. The original is currently in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
