First edition, rare. “I am not aware of any other place in Europe where there exists such a complete and formidable complex of 6th-, 12th- and 13th-century defences, such an interesting subject for study, or a more picturesque setting.” A rare booklet published during Viollet-Le-Duc’s most extensive restoration project.
