Paris, Lequien, 1821; 8vo, approximately 450 pp. per volume, contemporary full calf bindings, spines decorated with four raised bands, painted edges, fillets on the covers. All 20 volumes. Includes the complete works on music and the dictionary of music. With 4 volumes of correspondence. One of the greatest philosophers of the Age of Enlightenment. His ideas influenced the French Revolution. He attempted to create a system of musical notation and wrote a dictionary of music. In 1750, he took part in a competition organised by the Académie de Dijon, submitting his discourse on the sciences. Water stains on the top edges of a few volumes. Beautiful decorative binding.
