FURETIÈRE (Antoine) – *Le Roman bourgeois*. Nancy, Cusson, 1712; 12mo, preface + 317 pp., contemporary speckled full calf binding, spine decorated with five raised bands, marbled edges. Antoine Furetière, born on 28 December 1619 in Paris, where he died on 14 May 1688, was a French clergyman, poet, fabulist, novelist and lexicographer. He is best known as the author of a dictionary, the publication of which brought him into conflict with all his colleagues at the Académie Française. *Le Roman bourgeois* is his most famous novel. One frontispiece and five engravings within the text. This Nancy edition of *Le Roman bourgeois* is in very fine condition.
