Description
MERLIN (Roger) – Merlin of Thionville based on unpublished documents. Paris, Librairie Félix Alcan, 1927; in-8, VIII + 851 pp., paperback, covers printed in black (good condition). Both volumes. This work comprises two parts: the biography itself, which the author briefly summarises in 134 pages, followed by a further 68 pages in which he responds to the accusations levelled against Merlin; and the correspondence, which is the most substantial part and comprises 336 pages of text. The work is richly illustrated with plans, photographs and black-and-white drawings. Antoine Merlin, known as Merlin de Thionville, was born in that town in 1762 and died in Paris in 1833. He was a deputy for the Moselle department in the National Convention.
