Description
WESTPHALEN (R. de) – A Short Dictionary of Metz Folk Traditions. Metz: Published by the author, 1934; in-8, XV, 863 pp., full brick-red cloth binding, plain spine, cover preserved. A print run of 550 copies. A reference work on the Metz region, printed in two columns. Featuring black-and-white illustrations by Clément Kieffer, both within and outside the text. It should be noted that this book is rare, as the Germans destroyed most copies in 1940. It is also worth noting that the author is buried in the Saint-Simon-Saint-Jude cemetery in Metz, in the Devant les Ponts district. Furthermore, his father was mayor of this commune before it was incorporated into Metz at the beginning of the 20th century.
