Description
A fine pair of English flintlock combat pistols, with smooth-bore octagonal barrels flared at the muzzle, chambered for 12-pound rolling balls. Round front sight on a dovetail. Beautiful flat-frame locks signed TWIGG. Round basins, firing pins with roller springs screwed in from the inside. One of the pistols still has its flat swan-neck hammer, the other pistol has a round swan-neck hammer reinforced with an early form of a shoulder-type hammer (resoldered).
Iron-mounted guns, with pineapple decoration on the fore-end, barrel mounted with a slide. Strong iron ramrod with a brass tip fully embedded in the mount. Beautiful mount in varnished light walnut. Checkered on the grip, widened at the crown and adorned with carved decoration. These pistols are fitted with safety levers that lock the hammer. One of the levers is broken.
