Description
Wooden transport box containing a quarter-crown hat for a quartermaster officer, made by E. Bidal, 3 Rue Richelieu, Paris. The body is in taupe black, with a wide black braided band featuring a floral design, a gathered tricolour cockade, and the crown adorned with ostrich feathers. A wide six-strand braid with large white bouillon beads surrounds a hemispherical quartermaster’s button. The interior is made of gathered ivory silk with a suede sweatband.
Included are a pair of Second Republic infantry officer’s epaulettes with loose gold fringes, a sash belt in silver thread passementerie embroidery alternating with midnight blue threads, two free-fringed pompons and silver-coloured spinach seeds bearing two gold stars of a brigadier general. Also included is a rigid ball pompom consisting of a wooden core covered with a coil of gold cannetille trimmings and two collar corners on black velvet, number 164, in gold cannetille trimmings.
